Is my photo uploaded to a server?
No. The AI model (about 110MB) is downloaded to your browser once and cached — every photo after that is colorized entirely on your device and never leaves it.
Will the colorized photo be full resolution?
Yes. The AI predicts color at a fixed 512×512 resolution internally, but the sharpness and detail in your final result come from your original photo — only the color information is AI-generated and blended in at full resolution.
How accurate are the colors?
The AI predicts plausible, realistic colors based on patterns learned from millions of photos (skin tones, sky, foliage, fabric, etc.) — it's a strong estimate, not a restoration of the photo's actual original colors, since that information no longer exists in a black & white photo.
Does it work on already-color photos?
It's built for black & white photos. Running it on a color photo will still work, but it replaces the existing colors with the AI's own prediction rather than preserving them.
