The chart below assumes an illustrative 12% annual return, monthly compounding, and installments made at the start of each month — exactly the formula the calculator on this page uses. It is a lookup table, not a forecast: 12% is a round number chosen for illustration, not a prediction or a recommendation of what to expect.
Two patterns stand out when you read across and down. Down a column, the value scales in step with the monthly amount: doubling ₹5,000 to ₹10,000 doubles the 10-year estimate from ₹11,61,695 to ₹23,23,391. Across a row, extra years add more than proportional growth: going from 10 to 20 years multiplies the ₹5,000 SIP estimate by about 4.3x rather than 2x, because growth from earlier years keeps growing.
To use it for planning, pick a target amount and scan the table for combinations that reach it. Then move to the calculator and enter the exact monthly figure and duration you have in mind, since the chart only covers a handful of round numbers. Remember invested money is simply amount x 12 x years, so subtracting it from any cell tells you how much of that value is estimated growth.
This chart uses one return rate. Real returns vary year to year and can be negative for stretches, and the table deducts nothing for fund costs, taxes or inflation. Change the rate in the calculator to see other cases — the what-if page compares several rates side by side.

FAQ
What return rate does this chart assume?
12% a year, compounded monthly. It is an illustrative assumption, not a prediction or a recommendation.
Does doubling the monthly amount double the result?
Yes, in this model the estimated value scales in proportion to the monthly amount — ₹5,000 a month gives ₹11,61,695 over 10 years and ₹10,000 a month gives ₹23,23,391.
Why do extra years add so much more than extra money?
Growth in earlier years itself earns growth later. That compounding is why the 20-year value is much more than double the 10-year value for the same monthly amount.
How do I see a different return rate?
Change the annual return in the calculator above and the result updates instantly. The what-if page also lays out several rates side by side.
Are these figures a promise of returns?
No. They are calculated estimates from an assumed constant return. Real mutual fund returns are uncertain and can be lower or higher.
About this tool
SIP Return Chart Monthly Amount Vs Years
Estimate what a fixed monthly mutual fund SIP could grow to, with total invested, total gains, and a year-by-year table. This page focuses on the SIP Return Chart Monthly Amount Vs Years variant.
A SIP puts a fixed amount into a fund every month, so the final value depends on three things you choose: how much you invest, the return you assume, and how long you stay invested. This calculator compounds monthly at one-twelfth of the annual rate and treats each installment as invested at the start of its month, then shows the estimated maturity value, the total you put in, the growth on top of it, and a year-by-year table so you can watch compounding build over time. The return is a number you supply, not a forecast, and the estimate does not deduct fund expense ratio, exit load, tax, or inflation. The monthly amount stays fixed for the whole duration, so there is no step-up or lumpsum mode. Treat the result as a planning estimate, not a promise of returns.
How to use this tool
- Enter your monthly SIP amount.
- Enter the annual return you want to assume and the duration in years.
- Read the estimated maturity value, total invested, and total gains.
- Try a cautious and an optimistic return to see the range, and scan the year-wise table.
Why users choose this tool
- Maturity value, total invested, and total gain in one view, updating as you type.
- A year-by-year table that shows how compounding builds over the full duration.
- Runs in your browser, so nothing you enter is uploaded.
Common use cases
- Estimate what a monthly SIP could grow to before you start or increase it.
- Compare how different monthly amounts, durations, or assumed returns change the outcome.
- Check a maturity figure someone quoted you against a transparent month-by-month formula.
When to choose this tool
Choose the SIP Calculator when you are investing a fixed amount every month and want to estimate what it could grow to. Choose the EMI Calculator when you are repaying a loan and want the monthly payment and total interest — SIP is about growth of money you invest, EMI is about the cost of money you borrow. This tool models a fixed monthly SIP only: it has no lumpsum or step-up mode, and it does not deduct fund costs, tax, or inflation, so use its result as an estimate rather than a forecast.
