There is no built-in "compress to exactly this size" feature here, and any tool claiming to hit an exact byte target on the first try is usually rounding aggressively or getting lucky with your specific footage. What actually works is an iterative approach: compress once at a starting CRF, check the resulting file size, and adjust the slider up or down based on how far off you were.

For a short clip (under a minute) that needs to fit a small upload cap, start around CRF 30–32 on the medium preset. Longer clips need a higher CRF for the same target, since more seconds of footage means more data regardless of per-frame quality. If a thirty-second clip at CRF 30 is still too large, move up in increments of two or three rather than jumping straight to the maximum of 36.

Resolution matters as much as CRF for hitting a small target. A 1080p clip at CRF 34 can still be larger than a 720p clip at CRF 26, because resolution directly multiplies how much data each frame needs regardless of the quality setting. If you are struggling to get under the limit without visible quality loss, use the Resize Video tool first to bring the resolution down, then compress the smaller-resolution result.

Once the file is under the limit, do not push the CRF value any higher than necessary — extra margin below the cap is rarely worth the added quality loss, and Discord's limit is a hard cutoff rather than a soft warning, so getting comfortably under it in one or two tries beats guessing at the maximum compression from the start.
